This new edited collection of texts from the Wire magazine’s “Epiphany” column includes a piece I wrote on hearing György Ligeti’s “Requiem Mass.” The column was a great idea for the magazine, as it introduced a more experiential and event-based way of describing musical encounter. I look forward to reading the rest of the collection very much, as it includes writers and performers I admire like Geeta Dayal, Paul Gilroy, Michael Gira, David Grubbs, Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, and Simon Reynolds.
