The Imagination is What We Are

Beneath the Teaching Tree

Last June, I joined entheo-poet Dale Pendell, his bookmaker wife Laura, my oneironaut wife Jennifer Dumpert, and UC Berkeley prof David Presti for an excellent weekend workshop at the Ojai Foundation. The weekend, which was organized by my good pal Tom Lane, was devoted to Visionary Practice. We talked a lot beneath the gnarled majesty of the institute’s teaching tree, but also pounded on drums and drank calea zacatechichi liquor and invoked the power of the condor. If you weren’t there, you weren’t there. What I have for you here is a 45-minute talk I gave about the human imagination, which touches on mind, brain, clouds, and vision. IMHO, it is one of my strongest recorded talks.
